Verify your virtual wallet for better identity protection

When you first sign up for a NETELLER eWallet, you receive an Express account. An Express account allows you to quickly deposit and transfer funds to your favourite merchants or your friends and family. However, to take advantage of all the NETELLER services—including the Net+ Prepaid MasterCard® and higher limits and withdrawals—you will need to verify your account.

Why verify your eWallet?

NETELLER is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). As a regulated financial institution, we need to know who is using our system. When members verify their accounts we ask them to provide proof of identification and proof of address. This allows us to ensure we know who our members are.

As a result of verifying your account, we can provide you with additional services such as an increase in limits, international roaming access, withdrawals via Net+ card and heightened security. Verifying your account also helps to prevent fraud and identity theft. Once you verify your account, your account status will change to Extended.

How to verify

NETELLER offers several ways in which you can verify your account. To see which options are available to you, sign into your NETELLER account and click the “Upgrade Account” link found under the QuickLinks menu on the left hand side.

For more guidance on upgrading your account, watch the video below:

Back to school without breaking the bank

Having the student tuition blues? Going to school nowadays can be quite expensive. Last year I was feeling pretty down about my cash flow situation. I did some research, looked around, and finally came up with these 10 tips that helped keep my budget and my stress on track.

10 tips to help students save money

1. Drop the fancy data and phone plans

We are told through the media that we need fancy data plans, unlimited SMS, and free calling. Communications companies even have plans specifically for students. I recommend dropping the big data plan, as most phones come equipped with Wi-Fi, and your campus usually provides free Wi-Fi. Keep your phone for important calls. You can use online calling services such as Skype and ooVoo to make free calls PC to PC, or use your Net+ Prepaid MasterCard® to set up a paid account.

2. Laptops and Gadgets

Shop early. Typically by August all of the major electronics retailers have their back to school sales for computers. Buy what you need, don’t get lured into fancy features that usually end up costing you more. Keep an eye out for exclusive student deals.

3. Meals on us

Ever heard about the school meal plans? Try to avoid these if you can. School meal plans are more expensive than they sound, and will actually end up costing you more. On the other hand, having your grocery money lying around your house might vanish too quickly on video games, booze and parties. Instead, I use my Net+ card as my meal card; it’s accepted anywhere you can use MasterCard. I buy all my groceries on my card, putting 150 USD on my card every month. This way I can ensure I don’t spend beyond my means.

4. Avoid fancy gyms

Doctors recommend 1 hour of physical activity each day. There’s many alternative ways of getting this physical activity other than paying 30+ EUR for a gym membership every month. Your school will typically have a free gym for students – check that out first. Second, drop by the athletics department; most student organizations offer several intramural teams and pick-up games to join. It’s great way to stay active and make new friends, all for free.

5. Leave the car at home

The cost of gas, insurance, car payments, and parking are just too much for any student to afford. You don’t need a car, especially when there’s public transportation available at a fraction of the cost. Don’t forget, skateboarding, rollerblading, biking and walking can also get your around for free.

6. Buy used books

After my first semester, I realized that new textbooks were a waste, especially since I would never open them again. You can save a small fortune by buying used books. Shop online for books with your Net+ virtual card, or try finding a peer who might have taken the class before. Click here if you’d like to compare textbooks.

7. Don’t pay bank fees

You need to store all your hard earned cash, scholarship, or student loan money somewhere. Most banks offer a student account; however, these accounts only offer you limited transactions, only a few free transactions per month, as well as a monthly account service fee. With a NETELLER eWallet, you can keep your funds in your account and pay for all your needs for free using the Net+ Prepaid MasterCard.

8. Avoid the credit cards

As students we love anything free. This is how most high-interest rate credit card companies take advantage of us. They’ll offer a free water bottle, shirt or a chance to win something for just signing up for a credit card. Credit card companies offer you high limits so you’re enticed to spend beyond your means and then are stuck paying off a loan with a very high interest rate. Avoid paying interest and spending beyond your means with a Net+ prepaid card.

9. Watch it online

It’s pointless to pay for cable TV when you barely have time to sit in front of the TV. Nowadays you can purchase tons of music, TV shows and even movies directly online. You can make your entertainment purchases securely online using your Net+ virtual card.

10. Control your spending.

There’s no better way to stay on budget than to know what you’re spending your money on. Keep your receipts. Set yourself up with a monthly budget for your expenses, deposit the amount you have to spend into your NETELLER account and use your Net+ card to track and control your spending. The Net+ cards won’t allow you to spend more than what you have in your account.

I hope these tips help you out as much as they have helped me. Good luck with the upcoming semester!

Place your bet with NETELLER’s eWallet

Let’s admit it: we all know it’s fun to bet on a game now and then. My friends like making wagers with each other over hockey or soccer. But while 2 guys at work making a gentleman’s agreement over the Stanley Cup is simple, making a bet online can be trickier. The NETELLER eWallet can help you make your online sports betting easier.

Advantage of an eWallet

Your NETELLER eWallet gives you a secure place to store your money for all your online sports betting needs. True, you could just deposit directly to the betting sites, but there are advantages to using your eWallet instead.

  • You can shop around for the best line or price of a game, before moving your money. Since game lines/prices fluctuate frequently it is important to hold the bulk of your balance in your NETELLER account before deciding which book or merchant you want to place your bet at.
  • Choose from a variety of merchants: a full list of sports betting sites that accept NETELLER is available through our Facebook site
  • Your eWallet can help you stay on top of your money. Tracking your deposits and withdrawals from your NETELLER account can help make sure you’re not betting more than you planned.
  • It’s easier to collect your winnings: online gaming sites can take weeks to send you a cheque, while using your eWallet means your winnings are yours to use wherever you choose right away. You can even withdraw them from an ATM using your Net+ card, all for lower fees than cashing out through the merchant site.
  • Your personal information, like your credit card or bank account numbers, stays safe.
  • Transferring money from your eWallet can help you earn ballots for promotions and giveaways.

Tips on placing your bet

First, just load your eWallet with the money you’ve set aside. Depending on where you’re from, NETELLER offers several free deposit options, such as POLi or DIRECTEbanking.com. Transferring money from your eWallet rather than using your credit card or making a bank transfer can help you avoid deposit fees from merchant sites.

Start with a small deposit to the merchant; test the terms and conditions, check for additional fees and make sure the site is right for you before making larger deposits. Also, make sure your eWallet is set to the same currency as your preferred merchant, to save yourself exchange fees.

Using your eWallet can make your sports betting experience faster, cheaper and easier. So when the big game comes around, you can enjoy the excitement knowing that your money is in good hands. If you’re still making online bets through your credit card, sign up with NETELLER for free to get your eWallet today!

Stashing your cash

Remember the days when money was fun? Gone are the days of dropping coins in your piggy bank or hiding money under the mattress, the excitement of counting it to use it for something you truly wanted.

Boy, times have changed. Pocket change is a thing of the past; now plastic is used for everything. We don’t have the loose change hanging around to stash for our fun expenditures. But guess what: for the all grownups out there, an eWallet can be just as fun to have as a piggy bank. Stashing your cash is now about electronically moving “fun” money to an eWallet away from your “responsible” money (aka the money that’s paying your bills). You don’t have to feel guilty about splurging on whatever your heart desires if it came from your “fun” money account, right?

Make money fun again

With the hope of reigniting your excitement for money, I challenge you to make money fun again. At the beginning of the month, stash your cash in an eWallet. Then use it for something you truly want. Happy stashing!

Let us know what you’ll stashing your money for.

Staying loyal to NETELLER

Today’s blog is a guest post from Christian, one of our VIP members.

NETELLER has been my number 1 eWallet for the past 5 years or so. While there’s a lot of eWallets out there, NETELLER has always met my expectations. I was enrolled pretty early into the VIP program, giving me lots of benefits such as cash rebates, fraud guarantee, exclusive promotions, free deposits and much more. On top of this, their customer service has always gone the extra step in giving 100% dedicated quick and great service.

Travelling with NETELLER

Wherever I travelled, whether it was around Scandinavia, to the UK, to central Europe or the Mediterranean, they have always been available if I needed any help at all. Oh, did I mention their Net+ Prepaid MasterCard®? I have it with me wherever I go, and it’s really simple. Make sure your NETELLER account is funded, go to an ATM, enter your code and there you go, CASH :) . I used it in different countries, never any hassle. But make sure to inform your NETELLER agent that you are travelling, so they don’t block your card for security reasons when they notice it’s being used in another country. I think this is actually great, in case you lose your card for whatever reason. On top of that, the fraud guarantee you have on your account together with using the virtual card should probably make NETELLER the safest option to have as an eWallet.

Cash back

Now I am waiting for cashback on my activity for the last month or so. Come on, how great is that? You actually receive percentages of your activity. Gotta love it :) . With the funds available, you can do whatever you want. Withdraw it at an ATM for a small weekend break or transfer it to your favorite merchant. Maybe you even want to surprise your friends or family with a little gift; just use the Money Transfer option in your account. If you need to deposit extra into your account, there are numerous ways to do it, although some countries have restrictions on deposit options. I prefer the bankwire option. It’s cheap, quick and you get a notification in your account as soon as the money has been credited.

So to potential new members, do not hesitate to try out NETELLER. You would simply love it. To all the other loyal members, keep enjoying it!

Keep track of your online spending with your eWallet

I’m a big aromatherapy buff, but buying supplies in local shops can be expensive. That’s why I love, love, love to buy essential oils online. Everything’s so much cheaper if you know the right websites. The problem is, you can’t buy online using cash. And left to my own devices I would probably own every oil out there… Last year my credit card took a big hit when I got carried away.

I stay on budget with Net+

Ever since I started working at NETELLER, my essential oil addiction has stopped being an issue. That’s because I figured out I can use my Net+ Prepaid MasterCard® to shop anywhere I want online.

By loading my NETELLER account with my personal budget for the month, I only spend what I can afford. Which is great news for my credit rating – and my peace of mind.

Cashing out winnings to your virtual wallet

You’re a winner, CONGRATULATIONS! I know when I win I love to treat myself with some online shopping. Now that your money is burning a hole in your virtual pocket, you need a place to cash out, right?

Collecting your winnings

Whether you have won a little or a lot, there’s a fast, safe way to get your money out of a gaming site and into your hands.  Here’s how:

  • Visit the site where you want to cash out your winnings
  • Log into your merchant account
  • Select ‘Withdrawal’ or ‘Cashout’
  • Select NETELLER as your withdrawal option
  • Enter your NETELLER Account ID, Secure ID, and the amount of your winnings (for your security, you will never be required to enter your NETELLER password on a merchant site, so if you are asked, please report the site to phishing@neteller.com)

Just to be sure, you can sign in to your NETELLER account to see your winnings.

Yours to spend

Depending on the merchants processing time, your money transfer might be instant, or take up to 7 days. Once the money is in your NETELLER account, it’s yours to use how you like:

  • Use the Net+ PrePaid MasterCard® to withdraw it from an ATM
  • Spend it wherever MasterCard is accepted
  • Transfer your winnings to any of the thousands of other sites that accept NETELLER (visit our merchant directory for a full list)

It’s as simple as that. Good luck and safe play.

eWallet on a Smartphone

Don’t you love having access to the whole wide world wherever you go? I cannot live without my Smartphone.

In a day and age where no one really uses their phone to just call someone or to send an SMS, we need to be able to use our phones to do any and everything under the sun.

Did you know you can use your Smartphone to easily transfer funds from your NETELLER account to a merchant site?

Online payments through your phone

Transferring money via your Smartphone is the same as depositing at a traditional gaming website using your PC.

First make sure that your NETELLER account has funds in it. Then just visit the merchant’s deposit page on your mobile browser or application.

Enter in your NETELLER Account ID, 6-digit Secure ID and the amount you want to transfer. In the time it takes for your mobile browser to refresh, the funds in your NETELLER account will be transferred to the merchant. This is because transfers from your NETELLER account to any merchant site are always instant.

When using NETELLER on your mobile phone, please ensure your mobile network does not assign an IP address from a non-serviced country (such as the USA) as this will result in your account being temporarily closed.

Go ahead, give it a try, have fun and enjoy.

Skip the credit card and game with your Net+ card

More and more online gaming is revolving around online micropayments. As an example, consider your Xbox Live account. Any time you want new missions for Mass Effect, new multiplayer maps for Halo or new songs for Rock Band you need to pull out your credit card, buy new Xbox live points, spend those points on your DLC, and then deal with the credit card charges when your next statement arrives. And if you’re playing games online, you might need to supply further personal information as well. But there is an easier way.

A simpler alternative for payments

The Net+ Prepaid MasterCard® provides a simpler way to handle all of your online gaming micropayments. It’s like going to an arcade back in the 80s: you didn’t need a credit card and 2 forms of ID, just a roll of coins. Your NETELLER account keeps all your coins in 1 place so that when you are ready to play, you just need to use your Net+ card. And that means you don’t need a credit card.

The Net+ Prepaid MasterCard provides a measure of convenience over other prepaid cards or vouchers. Most such cards need to be purchased or loaded up at a store, but with Net+, you can add funds and monitor your balance online. It’s perfectly convenient: make payments in 1 window while you check your balance in another.

From the virtual wallet to your wallet

Perhaps most useful, the Net+ Prepaid MasterCard allows you to turn your virtual money back into real world cash. When your game pays money back to you, simply use your Net+ card to take out cash from any Cirius or Maestro ATM or just use the card to pay for a nice dinner. It gives you access to and control of your money at all times.

Your Net+ card lets you arrive at your gaming site with a virtual roll of coins. Spend whatever you need to without credit cards or having to share your personal information, and when you’re done your virtual coins can become real cash again. It’s the quick and easy way to handle gaming charges.
