The NETELLER Be a Hero results are in

Today’s post was written by Kimber. She is a Marketing Program Manager and is passionate about building the NETELLER community.

When we first thought of asking our members to make submissions to become the next NETELLER Hero, I was a little worried what we would get. As the variety of banners came in, I’ve had lots of laughs, some eyebrow-raising moments and great conversations around the proverbial NETELLER water cooler.

Thanks to all the heroes

Thanks to everyone who rose to the challenge, told us their story and put themselves out there for the world to see. It was great to see the number of votes that the semi-finalists have gotten.

Our top 3

The 3 semi-finalists are Tapan, Iury and Søren. They were chosen for the high volume of votes they received from friends, family and others that visited the site. Now that we have our top 3, it’s up to the selection committee to decide who will be the next NETELLER Hero.

It will be a tough process, but the committee will rise to the occasion. This isn’t just a popularity contest – these semi-finalists are going to be judged on beauty, poise, personality and how creatively their submission adheres to the Be a Hero theme.

It’s not over yet

There’s been way too much fun to stop this contest now. That’s why we’re making it an ongoing promotion with a winner chosen 4 times per year. So keep those submissions coming in and keep voting for your favourites!

Check out our finalists page between Monday October 19, 2009 and Friday October 23, 2009 (the day the winner is revealed).

NETELLER rewards with 250 EUR for turning your face into a hero

Today’s post was written by Chris. He is our rookie web writer and will be working on whatever is thrown his way. Sit back, relax and enjoy his posts.

So here I am blogging again. If you’re a fan of money, like I am, then you should enter the Be a hero contest for a chance to win 250 EUR.

4 ways to submit your winning photo

1. The Photoshop way

  • Download the template here
  • Unzip the file so you can easily access any of the templates
  • Open a photo editor of your choice
  • Drag the template you want to use into your photo editor
  • Open a photo of yourself
  • Clip the area you wish to include in your submission
  • Drag the clipped area to the template
  • Using the text tool, add your text
  • Save your file as a jpg
  • Upload your entry to the hero gallery

2. The do-it-yourself (DIY) way

  • Pick any picture of yourself
  • Open it up in a photo editor

  • Upload your entry to the hero gallery

3. The corporate standard way

  • Download the template here
  • Unzip the file so you can easily access any of the templates
  • Open up good old Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Using the insert command, insert the template of your choice
  • Using the insert command, insert your picture
  • Using the text box tool, insert your text
  • Select your template, picture and text box
  • Right click to group all 3 elements
  • Right click and select “Save as Picture”
  • Name and save your file
  • Upload your entry to the hero gallery

4. The quick & dirty

  • Pick any picture of yourself
  • Upload the photo to the hero gallery
  • In the “File title” field, add “This is Chris” (but use your name!)
  • In the “File description” field, add your personal description
  • Click continue and follow the steps to add your entry to the hero gallery

You don’t even have to use the downloadable template or be a Photoshop expert to enter. Just find any pic of yourself that you like and submit it. You can even use a simple program like PowerPoint to put your entry together. Or you can get really fancy with it and download the template and design your submission.

Seriously though, if I can do it, you can too. Go browse the hero gallery for more inspiration.

Chris's hero banner.

And make sure you vote and solicit votes. My vote goes to Stan because it’s an image of him and his Probe. One of my first cars was a Probe. I’m still not sure what’s in his secret world but you should check out his submission for yourself.

Which hero did you vote for and why?
